Abstract

A 35-year-old lady who had persistent iron deficiency anaemia underwent extensive investigations over the course
of six months with involvement of seven different medicalspecialties before a diagnosis of pica disorder causing
lead poisoning was formally made.The patient eventually received chelation therapy and made a full recovery.More
targeted history takingcould have assisted in making an earlier diagnosis.
